Our Mission
It is the mission of William and Mary Hart Presbyterian Church of Leggett, NC to give glory to Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit by:

Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Leggett, NC and all its surrounding areas and to every corner of the world.

Nurturing the members of this congregation by providing Christian Education in all of its forms and for people of all ages and by being a church in which the love of Jesus Christ for all prevails.

Providing opportunities for corporate worship, invariably on the Lord’s Day and at other times as well and by encouraging the individual members of this church to offer their every activity in every place as an act of worship to God.

Preserving the truth as it has been revealed in Jesus Christ, God’s Living Word, and in the Bible, God’s written word.

Promoting the causes of righteousness and justice in both our community and the world.

Exhibiting the Kingdom of God to the world by both our words and our actions.
As a congregation, we dedicate ourselves to making every activity of our church a means for promoting these six great purposes of the Church universal.
VISION
The vision for the next chapter of
William & Mary Hart’s future include the following:
1. Under the leadership of a new pastor, WMH will provide inspiring worship services rooted in scripture
for the education, comfort, and inspiration of its members to hear God’s guidance and calling as
individuals and as a faith community as part of God’s reconciling mission in the world.
2. Under the leadership of a new pastor, WMH will provide for meaningful fellowship among its
members, that the bond of Christian fellowship would be consistent with the rich history and identity
of the congregation. The fellowship should include provisions for encouraging families to feel
supported and at home at WMH.
3. Under the leadership of a new pastor, WMH will equip members to engage in mission in the
community and beyond.
Goals
The Session has established these goals as part of the Mission Study, organized according to their corresponding vision statements (above):
1. Worship services will be designed to be engaging and the pastor will prepare relatable, inspiring sermons with sound biblical exegesis. In prayerful discernment, the pastor will bring sermons which may bring any combination of insight, comfort, challenge, or inspiration without ignoring any of these areas over time.
2a. The Pastor and Session will develop a plan to provide a robust fellowship program and encourage participation by all of its members and encourage visitors to come as well.
2b. The Pastor and Session will review the rolls together to identify members who have stopped coming and develop a plan to invite them to experience WMH’s new chapter of community life.
2c. The Pastor and Session will develop a plan to minister to local families and provide a welcoming environment to people of all ages.
3. The Pastor and the Session will review current and former mission programs for viability and discern to which community ministries God is calling WMH to in its new chapter.
